East Side becomes Winter Wonderland
MILWAUKEE- The Christmas spirit was brought to life at Elves Studio, formerly Splash Studio on Milwaukee’s East Side.
Milwaukee’s painting bar, Splash Studios, experienced a complete overhaul in late November thanks to the help from several of Santa’s helpers.
The store’s makeover included a new storefront with the name, Elves Studio. Decorations made famous by the movie Elf were recreated in the Splash Studio. The store was meant to look like Buddy the Elf, played by Will Ferrell, came to Milwaukee to remake the store. The iconic snowflakes, Santa’s workshop, and Santa meet and greet area, were all inspired by the movie.
Crafts in the studio were meant to remind visitors of their favorite movie. In Santa’s workshop, visitors can create Buddy the Elf wreaths and cross-stitch. There were also opportunities for guests to attend pop-up events, including a Beef and Cheese after party following the Santa Rampage on December 7th and a Spread Christmas Cheer holiday fundraiser for the First Stage Children’s theatre on December 14 .
Elves Studio will provide snacks and drinks relating to the movie. The bar served specialty drinks for adults, including “World’s Best Coffee” and “He’s an Angry Elf.” The menu also included kid-friendly Son of a Nutcracker Nuts, Pop Tart pastries, Santa’s Beef and Cheese platter, and Christmas Morning Cake by The Cake Lady.
“For the whole month of December, we’ve been overtaken by holiday spirit as one obviously does during this time of year. So basically, what you can do is we offer a lot of different holiday themed projects and crafts,” Splash representative, Jane said. “You’re welcome to come into the bar, play some Nintendo's, sit anywhere and just take a minute to chill, relax, get some good cocktails and snacks.”
According to Splash Studio, the store will be made available to the public for seven days a week for the month of December and reservations can be placed up to two hours in advance. Children are allowed, if accompanied by an adult, except for Fridays and Saturdays after 5 p.m. Their hours are 4 p.m. to 11 p.m Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, according to their website.
